Tips: Carbon steel fasteners need to be surface treated according to the use environment, such as electro galvanizing or blackening treatment to prevent corrosion.
Cold heading production process of metal fasteners
We use advanced multi-station cold heading forming machines, combined with one-die three-punch technology for mass production. The process flow mainly includes:
1. Raw material preparation
Select high-quality round steel with a chemical composition that meets the standards, such as SAE 1018, SCM435, 304 stainless steel, etc.
2. Wire drawing
Draw to the required wire diameter, ensure surface finish, and dimensional tolerance ±0.05mm.
3. Cold heading forming
Use a one-die three-punch cold heading machine to continuously complete blank cutting, performing, and forming.
The cold heading pressure range is usually 150 to 800 tons.
4. Secondary processing (thread rolling/thread rolling)
Use a thread rolling machine to form threads, with a dense surface and no cracks.
5. Heat treatment (optional)
For example, carbon steel parts need quenching and tempering, with a hardness of HRC 30-40.
Advantages of cold heading:
High material utilization (>85%);
Improved workpiece strength (due to continuous fiber streamlines);
Good surface finish, reducing post-processing requirements.
Fastener surface treatment process
To improve the corrosion resistance and aesthetics of metal fasteners, we provide a variety of surface treatment methods:
1. Common treatment process
Electrogalvanizing:
1. Coating thickness: 5-15μm
2. Salt spray test: 72-240h
3. Applicable: general anti-corrosion
Dacromet:
1. Coating thickness: 8-12μm
2. Salt spray test: 500-1000h
3. Applicable: automotive chassis parts
Hot-dip galvanizing:
1. Coating thickness: 40-80μm
2. Salt spray test: 800h+
3. Applicable: outdoor structural parts
2. Special treatment plan
1. Silver plating (electrical contacts)
2. Chemical nickel plating (precision parts)
3. Anodizing (aluminum alloy parts)

Our process quality control
To ensure that each batch of metal fasteners meets high-quality standards, we implement a comprehensive quality control system:
Raw material inspection
Test chemical composition, tensile strength, hardness, etc.
Online first-piece confirmation
Before each batch of cold heading, the size and appearance of the first piece are confirmed.
Process inspection and random inspection
Use gauges, calipers, and three-coordinate measuring machines for inspection.
Surface treatment inspection
Use salt spray testers and film thickness meters to detect the corrosion resistance and thickness of the coating.
Full inspection or random inspection before delivery
Appearance, size, and thread gauge inspection to ensure batch stability.
