Bimetal Contacts with Au Plated

As a professional manufacturer with 20 years of experience in the new energy sector, we specialize in the R&D and production of Au Plated Electrical Contacts, including Gold Plating Contacts, Gold Plated Relay Contacts, Gold Plated Copper Rivets, and Bimetal Contacts with Au Plating.

Material Properties

The Superior Performance of Precious Metal Coatings. Gold-plated relay Contacts derive their core advantages from the unique properties of gold.

High Conductivity and Low Contact Resistance

Gold's conductivity ranks third among metals, and Gold Plated Copper Rivets' resistance to oxidation ensures stable signal transmission, even in harsh environments.

Corrosion and Oxidation Resistance

Gold's chemical inertness makes Gold Plating Contacts an ideal corrosion barrier, extending service life by 5x in salt spray tests compared to nickel-plated alternatives.

Wear Resistance and Fretting Resistance

Gold-cobalt alloys achieve hardness up to 200 Knoop, enabling over 100,000 mating cycles for applications like EV charging ports.

Bimetal Composite Structures

Copper-gold bimetal contacts combine copper's conductivity with gold's corrosion resistance, optimizing cost and performance.

Production Process of Gold-Plated Electrical Contacts

Before gold plating, the base material must be pretreated. The first is the cleaning process. The surface of the base is cleaned by ultrasonic cleaning, chemical cleaning, and other methods to remove impurities such as oil stains, oxides, and dust, ensuring a clean surface. For Bimetal Contacts with Au Plated, due to their complex structure, more meticulous cleaning is required to ensure a good bond between the gold plating layer and the base. After cleaning, surface activation treatment is carried out. Usually, a weak acidic solution is used to slightly corrode the surface of the base, forming a micro-rough structure on the surface to increase the adhesion of the gold plating layer.

Pretreatment

The gold plating process mainly uses the electroplating method. The pretreated base material is immersed in an electroplating solution containing gold salts. Through the electrolysis process, gold ions are reduced and deposited on the surface of the base to form a uniform gold plating layer. During the electroplating process, parameters such as the composition, temperature, pH value, and current density of the electroplating solution need to be strictly controlled. Different types of gold-plated electrical contacts, such as Au Plated Electrical Contacts, Gold Plating Contacts, and Gold Plated Relay Contacts, have different requirements for the thickness and uniformity of the gold plating layer. Generally, the new energy industry requires the thickness of the gold plating layer to be between 0.5 - 5 microns, which is achieved by precisely controlling the electroplating time and current density.

Gold Plating Process

After gold plating, post-treatment processes are required. The contacts are cleaned to remove residual electroplating solution and impurities on the surface to prevent them from affecting the performance of the contacts. Then, passivation treatment is carried out. A very thin passivation film is formed on the surface of the gold plating layer through chemical agents to further improve its corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Finally, according to product requirements, processes such as shaping and assembly are carried out to make the Bimetal Contacts with Au Plating meet the final usage requirements.
