Rivet-type Solid Copper Contacts

Rivet-type Solid Copper Contacts

Rivet-type solid copper contacts, also known as copper nail contacts, are monolithic contacts formed by cold forging from 99.99% pure copper wire. The products contain no composite layers or welded interfaces and can be customized to suit different applications, including non-plating, nickel plating for oxidation prevention, or silver plating to enhance conductivity.

Products Description

Rivet-type Solid Copper Contacts

These are Rivet-type Solid Copper Contacts designed specifically for low- to mid-range electrical connections. Its core feature lies in the "integral" nature of the contact material; the entire contact is composed of a single material-99.99% pure copper wire. This product is commonly used in wall switches, micro switches, and low- to mid-range relays. Compared to high-cost silver contacts, copper contacts, with their highly competitive price and reliable performance, have become the preferred choice for industrial standard parts.

Material Properties and Advantages

Extremely High Conductivity

Utilizing cathode electrolytic copper with an oxygen content <20ppm, the conductivity reaches 58MS/m (IACS≥99.99%), significantly superior to brass or bronze (only 60%-80% IACS). This means that under the same current conditions, Copper Contact Components generate less heat and are more efficient.

Excellent High-Temperature Performance

With a density of 8.9g/cm³ and a melting point as high as 1083℃, copper maintains excellent oxidation resistance even after long-term use at 150℃, with no change in quality, ensuring a long service life of One-piece Solid Copper Contacts.

99.99% Pure Copper Wire for Rivet-type Solid Copper Contacts

Key Process Technologies

Cathode Electrolytic Copper Refining

Electrolytic purification is used to increase copper purity to 99.99%, with oxygen content strictly controlled at <20ppm to prevent oxygen embrittlement and cold heading cracking for Integral Copper Contact Rivet.

Multi-Station Cold Heading

High-speed cold heading machines (≤φ25mm) are used to form Electrical Contact Copper Rivets prototypes in one step, achieving a forming rate >98% and a surface roughness Ra ≤1.6μm, avoiding material density damage caused by traditional turning (density maintained at 8.9g/cm³).

Controlled Atmosphere Plating

Nickel plating uses chemical deposition (2-5μm thickness), and silver plating uses pulse electroplating (1-3μm thickness), with a plating uniformity of ±5%, ensuring conductivity and corrosion resistance for Copper Contact Components.
