(2). Manufacturing Process:
A multi-station cold heading machine is used for forming (≤φ25mm specification), one-time forming rate >98%, surface roughness Ra ≤1.6μm, avoiding material density damage caused by cold heading.

1.3 Functional advantages
(1). Electrical performance:
Low contact resistance: The raw materials of copper come from mineral smelting, not second-hand recycled materials, to ensure the purity of the materials and effectively ensure low resistance.
Anti-electrochemical corrosion: Before packaging, all silver contacts undergo special silver contact surface passivation treatment, which helps prevent the silver contacts from being exposed to air and oxidized, and improves the resistance to electrochemical corrosion.

(2). Mechanical properties:
Head bonding strength: The one-time cold heading forming process is used to improve the bonding strength of the copper contacts after cold heading deformation; the high-temperature diffusion treatment in the later stage further strengthens the bonding strength between the contact surfaces of the copper molecules, greatly enhancing the mechanical capacity.

4.1 What is a trimetal-composite silver contact

A triple-composite silver contact is an electrical contact composed of three layers of different metal materials, usually a silver (Ag) + base metal + silver (Ag) structure. Common structures include silver-copper-silver (Ag-Cu-Ag), silver-nickel-silver (Ag-Ni-Ag), etc. The design of the trimetal-composite structure aims to combine the excellent conductivity of silver and the cost advantage of the base metal to achieve a balance between performance and cost.

4.2 Cold Heading Process

(1). Introduction to Cold Heading Process
Cold heading is a processing technology that directly forms metal bars into specified geometric shapes at room temperature through dies and stamping pressure. The characteristics of the cold heading process of three-composite silver contacts are as follows:

High precision The mold-forming precision is high, which can ensure the uniform thickness of the composite layer.
High efficiency Suitable for mass production, high output per unit of time.
Energy saving and consumption reduction No heating is required for room temperature operation, saving energy.
Good metallurgical bonding The multi-layer metal maintains a good bonding state during the cold heading process to ensure the service life of the contact.

(2) Brief description of the cold heading process:
Raw material preparation (composite silver strip) → Cold heading forming → Heat treatment (such as annealing) → Surface treatment → Quality inspection → Warehousing

4.3 Price and performance advantages

(1). Price advantage
Cost reduction: The middle layer uses low-priced copper or nickel, which greatly reduces the use of silver, and the cost is reduced by about 30% to 50% compared with all-silver contacts.
High material utilization rate: The material loss during cold heading is extremely low, which improves the economy.

(2). Performance advantages
Good conductivity: Both sides are pure silver layers to ensure low contact resistance and stable conductivity.
Strong arc ablation resistance: The middle layer metal can buffer arc thermal stress and extend the life of the contact.
High mechanical strength: After cold heading, it has high density, good strength, and is not easy to deform.
Strong welding adaptability: Suitable for brazing or resistance welding with a variety of substrates.

4.4 Application in industrial control relays

(1). Application background
Industrial control relays need to frequently switch on and off current and have extremely high requirements for the wear resistance, conductivity, and resistance to welding of contacts. Tri-composite silver contacts are an ideal choice.

(2). Application advantages
Improve reliability: Tri-composite silver contacts ensure long-term stable operation of relays and reduce the probability of false operation.
Extend service life: Compared with ordinary silver-nickel contacts, the electrical life of tri-composite contacts is increased by more than 30%.
Adapt to high-load environments: Suitable for controlling high-impact load devices such as motors and inverters.

(3). Common product examples
Intermediate relays (such as the JTX series)
Time relays
Contactor auxiliary contacts
Signal relays in automatic control modules

Trimetal silver contacts are gradually replacing traditional contact materials with their excellent electrical properties, processing adaptability, and economy, especially in the field of industrial control relays, playing a key role. Combined with the mass production advantages of the cold heading process, it provides cost-effective solutions for electrical component manufacturers.
